Gershon Koffie handed Ghana national team call up
Midfielder Gershon Koffie had his first ever training session with the Ghana Senior National Team after he was invited to join the team for the friendly matches with Mexico and the USA.
This is the maiden call-up for the Hammarby (Sweden) midfielder who is on loan at New England Revolution.
Gershon comfortably walked straight into the New England team and has made six appearances so far after returning to the MLS.
The tireless midfielder had a lengthy spell with Vancouver Whitecaps where he grew into the MLS and is now a household name in the league.
The former Inter Allies player was a member of the Ghana U20 team at the 2011 African Youth Championship in Morocco.
The Black Stars will play Mexico on Wednesday, June 28 at Houston’s NRG Stadium where Gershon is expected to make his debut with the National Team.
Ghana will then face the United States in their second friendly three days later at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in Connecticut.
