Joseph Aidoo nominated for SWAG Award
KRC Genk defender Joseph Aidoo has been nominated for the Male Footballer of the Year Award in the upcoming Sports Writers Association of Ghana awards night.
The former Ghana U20 star faces competition from Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey, Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Felix Annan, TSG Hoffenheim’s defender Nuhu Kasim and John Antwi of Misr Lei-Makkasa.
Aidoo is having a stellar season with his Beigian side KRC Genk after helping the club to the apex of the table heading towards the league title, he has featured in all of their 23 league matches played so far this season with just 7 matches left.
The former Inter Allies FC captain got the biggest recognition in 2018 when UEFA Europa League named him in their Breakthrough Team of the Year and named in the Europa League team of the week in the last round of the Group Stages.
Aidoo’s Genk have also qualified from the the group stages to the round of 32 of the competition.
He has been the most consistent Ghanaian player in Europe with a whopping 55 appearances for KRC Genk since he joined them in 2017.
The 44th SWAG awards night has been slated for the 11th of May, 2019
