Joseph Aidoo shines on his Black Stars debut
Ghana defeated Mauritania in Joseph Aidoo’s first match for the senior national team in an international friendly game.
Joseph Aidoo’s debut for the Black Stars was a thorough 3-1 victory over Mauritania at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The former Inter Allies captain played the entire duration of the match where he displayed solidly with his partner on the day, Nicholas Opoku.
He showcased breathtaking defensive skills winning several aerial duels and stopped several goal scoring opportunities.
Kwesi Appiah shot Ghana into the lead from the penalty spot in the early minutes of the game, however, Adama Ba pulled parity after executing an excellent free kick just after the start of the second half.
Caleb Ekuban restored Ghana’s lead after connecting a header into the net in the 70th minute. Thomas Partey sealed the win for the Stars in the 72nd minute.
Adioo, earned his first national call-up after impressing for KRC Genk in Belgium and successfully breaking through in Europe.
He was an unused substitute in Ghana’s 1-0 win over Kenya in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
